Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.
We both graduated from Columbia GSAPP, where we built a strong foundation in design methodology. After graduating, we gained diverse experience by working at various firms, where we contributed to a wide range of projects.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?
We've worked on various projects, ranging from the renovation of Grand Central Terminal in NYC to a 500-meter supertall skyscraper in China. While we’ve handled larger-scale projects, we particularly enjoy smaller ones—such as installations, interiors, and residential homes—where we can focus on intricate details and establish a deeper connection with the spaces we create.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
For us, architecture is alive. The play of light, and the way people interact with spaces, gives architecture its special character. Architects contribute by creating environments that shape human experiences. We observe, reflect, and design spaces that serve as stages for life.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
Competitions challenge us to expand our skill sets and connect with the architectural community. The Sansusī Sound Sculpture competition, in particular, offered a fascinating topic with real potential for realization. We were especially drawn to the use of wooden structures.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
Don’t hesitate—if the topic excites you, just go for it! Competitions are an excellent way to showcase your talent and imagination. Many competitions have no restrictions, which can inspire you to step outside your daily routine and think creatively.
