03
Outward-facing eaves frame expansive views of the surrounding valley.
04

05
Landscaping integrates seamlessly with the architecture, enhancing visitor interaction.

Tili Wine Guest House is located at the base of the Umbrian Mountain Chain and Valley, designed to blend in with its natural surroundings. The building aims to create a welcoming space for visitors, enhancing their connection to the landscape. The design emphasizes a relationship between indoor and outdoor environments, allowing guests to appreciate both the architecture and the scenery.

Architectural Concept

The design uses non-linear massing and fractional roof forms. This approach creates an interesting relationship with the horizon while reducing the building's impact on the environment. Eaves that extend outward frame expansive views, facilitating a conversation between internal spaces and the outside world. Natural light flows freely inside, enriching the experience of each space.

Interior Spaces

The atrium serves as a central area for social interaction, where guests can come together for tastings and gatherings. This space is designed to invite the outdoors in, encouraging connections with nature. The atmosphere is conducive to storytelling and community, reflecting the region's rich wine-making culture. The layout promotes exploration and engagement, making it a focal point of the experience.

Materiality and Structure

Materials play a vital role in the building's functionality and visual appeal. The roof is made with durable zinc, paired with waterproofing membranes that protect the interior. Wooden frames surround the windows, adding warmth to the facade. Inside, polished screed and concrete create practical floor surfaces, while the entrance features a stone slab supported by precast concrete, providing a solid yet inviting entry.

Design Details

Design elements such as circular volumes break up the structure and create a feeling of continuity with the landscape. These forms encourage guests to explore various viewpoints of the surroundings. The landscaping complements the architecture, drawing visitors into the undulating terrain. This engagement enhances the sensory experience, inviting interaction with the vineyard views and bringing the essence of the region into focus.
