Rumah Kita is located in Jakarta, Indonesia, and works to meet the urgent needs of orphans and abandoned children. It redefines communal living by creating a supportive environment for both children and young parents. The design revolves around a child-centered approach, integrating social services for family support and resources that improve daily life and personal development.

Living Zone

The "Live" zone is where orphans will reside. This area has been designed to feel safe and comfortable, creating a home-like atmosphere for the children. Attention has been given to the layout and features to ensure that residents can thrive emotionally and socially, fostering a sense of belonging in their daily lives.

Work Zone

The "Work" zone includes various institutions focused on child welfare. This section acts as a resource center for both children and parents. It allows easy access to essential services such as counseling and career guidance. The integration of these services aims to help the residents gain skills and confidence for a more independent future.

Social Zone

The "Social" zone consists of interactive spaces meant for community engagement. Playgrounds, retail areas, food courts, and event spaces are incorporated here. These designs support social interaction and enable children to take part in activities that contribute to their growth and development. The layout promotes diverse play programs tailored for various age groups, making learning enjoyable and experiential.

Materiality and Design Detail

The building features a skin made of white-painted metal mesh, which is coated with titanium dioxide to help cleanse the air of impurities and viruses. This choice enhances the overall healthiness of the environment for all who enter. The design includes terraces that are set back from the main structure, encouraging informal interactions while maintaining privacy. These transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces offer a welcoming atmosphere for both children and visitors.
