Green Roofed Workshops Merging With Latvian Wooded Landscapes

Project in-detail

The integration of green roofs with communal workshop spaces creates a unique blend of functionality and sustainable living, allowing families to engage creatively while harmonizing with the Latvian wooded landscape.
5 key facts about this project

Green roofs provide enhanced insulation and blend seamlessly with the landscape.
02
Communal workshop areas encourage collaborative family activities.
03
Sustainably sourced wood reflects traditional Latvian building methods.
04

05

Set in the diverse landscape of Latvia, the design features a residence aimed at supporting two families while providing communal workshop spaces. The project takes full advantage of the area’s natural charm, integrating closely with its surroundings. The overall design emphasizes sustainability and a strong connection to the environment, allowing occupants to enjoy a fulfilling interaction with nature.

Green Roofs

The use of green roofs is a key component in the design. These roofs help keep the interiors cool and quiet while blending into the landscape. By regulating temperature, they lower the demand for heating and cooling, reflecting a growing trend toward energy-efficient building methods. Beyond their practical benefits, the green roofs enhance the building's visual appeal and enrich its relationship with the natural setting.

Transparency and Openness

The design prioritizes transparency and openness through large glass elements in the workshop areas. This approach allows for clear views of the beautiful scenery, bringing the outdoors inside. Abundant natural light fills the spaces, creating an uplifting environment. Residents can engage with the landscapes of wildlife and trees, fostering a deeper connection to the world around them.

Material Value

Wood plays a significant role in the construction, honoring traditional Latvian methods while focusing on sustainable sourcing. By choosing this material, the design acknowledges local heritage and contributes to environmental responsibility. The warmth of wood enhances the interior atmosphere, creating comfortable living spaces that feel inviting and connected to the outside.

Community Engagement

The design creates workshop areas as vibrant spaces for creative expression, allowing two families to share experiences and collaborate. This focus on community fosters connections among residents and encourages artistic endeavors. Positioned among the hills, the house provides both privacy and an appreciation for the natural environment, inviting meaningful interactions with the landscape.

The green roof cascades into the terrain, forming a visual link that celebrates the local ecology and embodies a thoughtful approach to living in harmony with nature.
