My work is drawn to spaces that awaken something child-like in all of us: places that honour what came before, delight in the present and look towards the future without losing their footing.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
To me, architecture is not the making of objects but the shaping of life, and the architect’s role is to create places that feel inevitable to their setting, generous to their inhabitants and alive to the spirit of their time.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
I participate in architecture competitions because they create room to explore ideas with freedom and rigour, test a point of view, and contribute to wider conversations about how we want to live.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
Competitions can be valuable when approached not only as a way to win, but as an opportunity to clarify your values, strengthen your design process and produce work that feels genuinely your own.
