Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.
For this contest we've collaborated professionals from two international companies — MUSTBE x RUDA. MUSTBE mostly specializes in BIM and architectural drafting of huge-scale buildings, such as schools, sports arenas, office buildings etc, while RUDA has an amazing experience in interior design of various spaces from residential to commercial. So, for this competition we thought it would be a good idea to combine two different approaches, two scales and two ways of creating one solid piece of art.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
The most important goal of architecture, in our opinion, is organizing the chaos that exists in our world. Also, nowadays, when globalization and optimization are at its maximum, a very meaningful job of an architect is saving local authentic details and integrate it with the modern technology.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
This is why taking part in architectural and design competitions is so beneficial for us. Here we can create something special without the frames of budgeting, engineering or the developer's/investor's opinion. Moreover, if you are used to work and create inside this "box" of restrictions, it might be quite a challenge to step out of that box and not to get lost in this freedom.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
So, if someone is still in doubt whether participating in any type of professional competition is worth their time and money, we'd recommend them to give it a try. It could be quite a boost in creativity and - if you win - it would definitely be a great way to show yourself on the professional stage.
