What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
Architecture is a discipline that engages with many aspects of society. It responds to specific needs and questions, but at the same time should also be capable of raising new ones – as any practice concerned with culture and the arts should do. In this sense, the architect’s role is not only to provide solutions, but also to interpret existing conditions and open new and unexpected possibilities.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
Architecture competitions offer an opportunity to engage openly and generously with design questions. They provide a space for experimentation and growth, both through the design process itself and through comparison with the different approaches that emerge once the results are published. It is always fascinating to see how many distinct directions can arise from the same brief.
