Clients Favourite award winners from Italy

LSAA Studio, was founded in 2019 by Francisca López, Chilean architect from the University of Santiago de Chile and Matias Salas Ramírez, Chilean architect- University of Santiago de Chile and current Master student at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. The studio is itinerant, it was founded in New Zealand, and then moved to Italy, is conformed by husband-and-wife Matias and Francisca. Miled Lahoud is an architect of the Holy Spirit University Kaslik, Lebanon, graduated in 2021 and current Master student at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. From 2022 he collaborates with LSAA Studio.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been involved?

Francisca Lopez Gonzalez, has developed housing projects in Chile during 2017-2019 collaborating with “NAMUN.”

Matias Salas Ramírez, has worked in private studios in Chile. His main Interest is in public architecture and theory. In 2015 won the Chilean national XXIX CAP competition for students, the same year reached the second position in the Latin-American ALACERO version in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Miled Lahoud, graduated in 2021 and current student at Politecnico di Milano, his interests are mainly on public architecture and heritage.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

We understand architecture as the stage for human life, it enhances human emotions and provides a base for our daily activities. The role of architect in the current society must be the coherent and responsible coordination of needs, transformed into shape in order to solve problems or an opportunity. Moral, Passion and method are key elements in our understanding of the role of the architect.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

We participate in architecture competitions because they provide a democratic instance for projects development. At the same time they give us the opportunity to learn, experiment and apply innovative solutions.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

Architecture competitions can provide an excellent opportunity to grow and experiment. It’s also a process of self-discovery, in which a personal’s method of work can be polished for future experiences.
