Lanxin Zhong from China

I’m a senior undergraduate from Sichuan Agriculture University in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. My major is landscape architecture.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where company/ individuals have been involved?

I am a senior undergraduate, so my main projects are school work and competition projects, which are mainly about landscape and urban design.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

For me, architecture is a kind of artwork of the daily life, which can bring energy and courage to me. While for my society, architects are a group of people who have made a huge contribution to the society, but are hardly seen by the public. I think they need more stages.

Why do you participate in architecture vision competitions?

Because it can provide me with a good stage to show my ideas about architecture.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture vision competitions?

If someone thinks he or she has the willingness to create a better environment, they shouldn’t hesitate to do it.
