Translucent Fabric Installation Enhancing Community Engagement Through Light

Project in-detail

Utilizing translucent fabric and LED lighting, the installation redefines community interaction by transforming everyday activities into engaging performances within the vibrant context of Festival Sansusi.
5 key facts about this project
01
Translucent fabric acts as a dynamic light filter, creating varying atmospheres based on time of day.
02
LED lighting is positioned at floor level, enhancing visibility and guiding movement in the evening.
03
The installation's design encourages attendees to redefine everyday activities as participative performances.
04
Prefabricated components fit into 24 pallets, simplifying transport and assembly on-site.
05
Curvilinear shapes promote fluid movement throughout, fostering an engaging and exploratory experience.

"The Antithetical Proscenium" is an installation designed for the Festival Sansusi, aimed at exploring the interaction between performers and observers. By challenging the traditional boundaries of theater, it presents a setting that encourages engagement and participation. The project seeks to change how people experience performances in a lively festival environment.

Spatial Dynamics
The installation features translucent fabric that acts as a visual barrier while inviting participation. This material allows light to filter through, creating different atmospheres throughout the day. In the evening, LED strip lights are integrated to illuminate the fabric, enhancing the space and attracting attention as attendees move through the installation.

Interactive Engagement
Props are central to the design, encouraging attendees to get involved. Everyday actions like eating and drinking become part of the experience, blurring the lines between the roles of observer and performer. This setup fosters a welcoming environment, prompting people to engage in new and unexpected ways.

Logistical Considerations
The design also focuses on ease of assembly and transport. Prefabricated components are organized to allow efficient shipping. All elements fit into 24 pallets, which makes logistics straightforward. The assembly process requires only minimal tools, making it accessible to different installation teams.

The curving design of the installation promotes fluid movement. Attendees can explore and interact freely within the space. Light and shadow play across the fabric, adding depth to the experience. These elements encourage a connection with the environment that is both engaging and thoughtful.
