Glazed Triangulated Facade Supported by Vertical Stacking in a Public Exhibition Center

5 key facts about this project
01
Glazed triangulated facade enhances natural light and visibility.
02

04
Circulation ramp directly connects parking to auditorium levels.
05

The expansion of the Kip Island exhibition center is a significant development aimed at enhancing interactions among visitors. Located in a vibrant urban area, the project provides a venue that combines exhibition spaces with essential support facilities. The design concept focuses on creating vertical connections and promoting public engagement, ensuring that visitors feel invited and connected to their surroundings.

Architectural Layout

The layout emphasizes a vertical organization of spaces. The ground floor features key elements such as an exhibition area, an information booth, storage, and a café. This arrangement places the café as an important gathering spot, encouraging social connections and acting as an entry point to explore various exhibitions and activities.

Multi-Level Integration

Multiple levels are incorporated into the design, with the first floor dedicated to meeting rooms, kitchens, and private offices. This arrangement allows for easy movement between spaces while distinguishing between public and private functions. The design provides versatility, making it suitable for different types of events and activities within the center.

Parking Structure and Accessibility

An essential part of the design is the multiple-story parking structure located at the front of the site. This choice maximizes accessibility for visitors, contrasting with the common approach of hiding parking facilities. A circulation ramp connects the parking area to the main building, bringing visitors directly to the auditorium level and facilitating movement between different spaces.

Facade and Green Roof

The facade of the exhibition center features a glazed triangular design that enhances visibility and invites exploration. This transparency encourages visitors to enter and discover what lies inside. Additionally, a green roof offers a space for visitors to relax and take in views of downtown Riga. The combination of these elements highlights a focus on sustainability while creating an engaging atmosphere that welcomes exploration.
