Acoustic Space Enclosed by Modular Wooden Panels with Stroboscopic Lighting

Project in-detail

Enclosed by modular wooden panels and enhanced with stroboscopic lighting, the design creates an acoustic space that immerses users in an engaging environment conducive to introspection and exploration.
5 key facts about this project
01
Modular panels enhance flexibility for various spatial configurations.
02
Stroboscopic lighting creates dynamic visual experiences that engage users.
03
The acoustic design uses sound-absorbing materials to improve auditory comfort.
04
A focus on introspective immersion fosters personal exploration within the space.
05
Strategic placement near club venues encourages active user participation.

WOMB is a contemporary project that explores how architecture interacts with sensory experiences. Located near popular club venues, it serves as an entry point into a space focused on personal reflection and exploration. The design aims to trigger feelings of discovery, making the user an integral part of the experience.

Conceptual Framework

The design sets the stage for a transition from the outside world to an internal womb-space. A solid screen acts both as a boundary and an invitation to enter. This structure leads visitors into an immersive environment filled with sound and light. The layout encourages deep engagement with the surroundings, creating an atmosphere where introspection thrives.

Spatial Dynamics

The project emphasizes the relationship between solid and fluid elements. The solid membrane interacts with sounds, allowing the space to resonate with rhythmic beats. This connection creates a lively energy that draws users in. Visual stimulation comes from stroboscopic lights, which add bursts of brightness to the atmosphere. When the lights are off, the contrast presents a darker space, shifting the focus and altering the way one perceives the environment.

Material Considerations

WOMB features several structural components, including a roof outfitted with advanced lighting systems. These systems utilize both stroboscopic and recessed LED lights to create varied lighting options. The sound system is positioned along both horizontal and vertical planes, ensuring an immersive auditory experience. Sound and vibration absorbent materials are also used, which improve the acoustic quality and contribute to a comfortable environment.

Modular Configuration

A modular design approach enhances the project’s adaptability. Wooden panels and anti-vibration mats are arranged in different configurations, providing flexibility within the overall design. This versatility allows for various spatial arrangements while maintaining the integrity and functionality needed for the surrounding lively context.

Through these elements, WOMB creates a space that invites sensory interaction while encouraging personal engagement. Each design detail contributes to a thoughtful atmosphere, where the relationship between the individual and the environment unfolds naturally.
