Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.
I am a third-year architecture student at the University of Venice. This competition marked my first experience in such an endeavor. Additionally, I have completed two internships, which have provided me with valuable insights into the professional world of architecture.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?
During my internships, I had the opportunity to contribute to several significant projects. However, on a personal level, I have not yet had the chance to focus on developing a project of my own or being involved with any significant project.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
To me, architecture is not merely about creating spaces where we live or providing shelter over our heads. It is also about designing environments that enable us to lead serene and pleasant lives, emphasizing the importance of aesthetics and the visual impact of architecture. As Renzo Piano aptly stated, "You can choose not to read a book, but you cannot avoid seeing the unpleasant building in front of you."
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
I decided to participate in architecture competitions because they provide an effective way to gain practical experience in the professional field while still a student.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
I would advise fully immersing yourself in the field, as the only way to become a great architect is by practicing and engaging with every aspect of the profession.
