P.Gui: I am an Architect and BIM Lead based now in Hong Kong, recently moved from Basel and have worked before also in Cologne. I graduated from RWTH Aachen University in Germany and experienced working in star offices with big scale projects.

Y.Mu: This is the first time we are collaborating with each other. I have also started my professional career as an architect in Basel.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?

We have been involved in projects with different scales and phases. From Flagship Shop design to Office Building, from Railway Station to Theatre, and from Competition to Construction phase. At the current stage, we are more interested in approachable projects providing us opportunities to bring them into reality .

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

P.Gui: Architecture, to me, is about creating spaces where stories can unfold. It extends the context, drawing from both urban cities and natural landscapes. With its narrative strength and autonomy, architecture not only absorbs emotion but also invokes deep emotional responses.

Y.Mu: For me, architecture is the starting point for understanding the world and a major medium for communicating with others. Architects are a small group with specialized professional abilities that serve people. We strive to contribute to improving the quality of life and enriching our perceptions of the world.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

P. Gui: I hope to keep my mind active and spark inspiration by participating in engaging architectural competitions. Of course, I also aim to discover potential opportunities through these competitions.

Y. Mu: It’s driven by the need to create, to help people who require designers, and to seek real-world construction opportunities for professional experience.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

P. Gui: Just do it, and you’ll see. Hahaha.

Y. Mu: It’s a great way to keep yourself creating new work.
