Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.
We are a team of four architecture students from Peru who collaborated during our academic training to develop design proposals focused on social impact and spatial quality. Our background combines architecture and interior design, where we developed skills in conceptual design, digital modeling, and architectural visualization. Throughout our studies, we participated in academic exhibitions, design workshops, and architecture competitions. These experiences helped us strengthen our collaborative design process and critical thinking.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?
Our experience is mainly based on academic and competition projects developed during our architectural education. We have worked on proposals ranging from interior and educational spaces to community-oriented projects. In addition, each member of our team has gained experience in architecture studios through pre-professional internships, contributing to design development, digital modeling, and architectural representation.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
For us, architecture is a tool to improve people’s everyday lives. It shapes how we experience space, interact with others, and connect with our environment. The role of the architect in society is to design spaces that are responsible, inclusive, and sensitive to their cultural and environmental context.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
We participate in architecture competitions because they offer a space for exploration and creative freedom. Competitions allow us to test ideas, experiment with different approaches, and develop our design thinking. For students and young designers, they are also an opportunity to engage with global architectural discussions and continue learning beyond the classroom.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
Our advice would be to see competitions as a learning process rather than only a chance to win. The experience itself helps develop creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Even when a project is not selected, the process contributes to professional growth and helps designers build confidence in their ideas.
