The Kemeri Center serves as a visitor hub located in the unique environment of Kemeri National Park, known for its wooden pathways and expansive swamps. The design aims to create a strong connection between the building and the surrounding landscape, offering visitors an engaging experience as they explore the natural beauty of the area. By incorporating existing pathways, the layout encourages interaction with the environment, allowing guests to feel immersed in the forest.

Pathway Integration

A key feature of the center is its system of wooden pathways that guide visitors through the site. These paths fulfill a practical function while also fostering a sense of being part of the natural world. They enhance movement, allowing guests to navigate the center comfortably and appreciate the landscape around them. The thoughtful placement of pathways promotes exploration and encourages people to interact with each other and their surroundings.

Functional Volumes

The layout consists of three separate volumes, carefully positioned between the pathways, each serving specific purposes like exhibition areas, ticket sales, and visitor facilities. This arrangement ensures that essential services are easily reachable for visitors while also reinforcing the idea of connection. The ground floor features openings that allow for scenic views, while a staircase leads to a mezzanine level with extra seating and a bar that opens to an outdoor terrace.

Amenities and Facilities

Visitor comfort is a priority in the design, which includes a range of amenities that cater to various needs. Showers, a sauna, and camping facilities are integrated into the center, allowing guests to spend more time in the park. These features not only serve practical needs but also enhance the overall experience for those looking to connect more deeply with the natural environment.

Dynamic Landscape

The design also showcases a varied landscape that counters the flat nature of the site. Elevation changes and carefully considered sightlines create different visual experiences for visitors as they move through the area. The parking space is located beneath the structure, keeping the visual impact minimal. This arrangement ensures ease of access while preserving the integrity of the natural surroundings.

The center includes an irregularly shaped green roof that reflects the natural forms found in the ecosystem, further reinforcing the relationship between the building and the landscape of Kemeri National Park.
