YUJ Sunset is a proposal designed for the Vale de Moses Yoga retreat, located in a tranquil natural setting that promotes well-being. The design aims to enhance the existing facilities while ensuring a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. The focus is on providing functional spaces that support yoga practices and encourage a sense of peace and reflection.

Yoga Shala

The Yoga Shala is the centerpiece of the design, positioned to offer expansive views of the sunset. This space is complemented by a zen garden and a covered terrace, creating a dynamic relationship between indoor and outdoor elements. The architecture is intended to foster a calming environment, allowing practitioners to engage with their surroundings during sessions.

Spatial Organization

The layout centers around a corridor that acts as the main linking element of the building. This corridor connects crucial spaces such as the kitchen, chill area, locker rooms, and restrooms. A continuous windowed wall runs along this corridor, providing panoramic views of the landscape. This arrangement facilitates movement while also serving as a preparatory space for users transitioning into the Yoga Shala.

Sustainability Features

The design incorporates several sustainable elements, including solar panels and compostable toilets. These features highlight a commitment to environmental responsibility. Additionally, underfloor and wall heating systems are included to enhance energy efficiency and user comfort. By using a pile foundation system, which requires minimal excavation, the structure is raised above the ground, effectively reducing its impact on the environment.

Wind Tower and Natural Ventilation

A noteworthy aspect of YUJ Sunset is the wind tower, which plays a significant role in natural air circulation. This design element is inspired by traditional building methods and contributes to climate control. The wind tower also provides an elevated area within the Yoga Shala for individual practice. The thoughtful integration of airflow and spatial variety strengthens the connection between the building and the environment.

The structure's elevated design allows it to blend into the landscape while maintaining a clear presence within the retreat. Attention to detail enhances the user experience, inviting a deeper connection between the architecture and the natural world.
