Waterway Integration and Azulejo Accents in a Serene Wine Tasting Retreat

Project in-detail

Incorporating a waterway and adorned with Azulejo tiles, the retreat offers a tranquil setting for wine tasting and meditation.

01
Waterway features enhance the sensory experience of the space.
02
Azulejo tiles contribute to the cultural identity and aesthetic richness of the interior.
03
Sliding windows promote natural ventilation and a strong connection to the outdoors.
04
The terrace provides an intimate setting for small gatherings and events.
05
Hidden lighting systems create ambiance while preserving the architectural integrity.

The project is designed to create a calm environment for relaxation and contemplation. Situated in a tranquil area, the space includes a wine tasting room, a kitchen, and guest facilities. The design concept focuses on observation and meditation, integrating water features that symbolize the changing nature of life, contributing to the soothing atmosphere intended for all who enter.

Design Intent

The design emphasizes a balance between open spaces and cozy retreats. This arrangement allows for easy movement while offering comfort. Key elements include a degustation hall that can accommodate up to 33 guests and a terrace that seats 12. These areas enhance both social interaction and personal reflection, creating a versatile experience.

Spatial Configuration

The layout is carefully planned to ensure smooth transitions between different spaces. It features essential areas such as guest and staff restrooms, as well as a vestibule and storage facilities. Each component is strategically placed to support the overall function of the venue while maintaining a calming ambiance.

Material Composition

The architectural expression uses traditional elements like Azulejo tiles and vaults, which blend with modern design techniques. This approach respects cultural heritage while also offering a contemporary experience. A transparent north-west wall allows natural light to fill the interior, enhancing the overall atmosphere.

Design Features

Important features include sliding windows that provide ventilation and strengthen the connection to the outdoors. A waterway and decorative pool system add visual interest and serve as reminders of life’s transience. Additionally, hidden lighting systems create a pleasant ambiance, and decorative cross vaults contribute to the unique character of the structure.

Defined pathways ensure that movement throughout the facility is efficient, creating distinct routes for guests, staff, and products while keeping the space tranquil. The gentle sound of flowing water complements the serene experience, allowing visitors to feel at ease and connected to their surroundings.
