The Inner Peace Cabin is located in the tranquil environment of Ozolini retreat, designed as a retreat to facilitate mental clarity and personal reflection. The cabin aims to create a strong connection between individuals and the natural world. It is structured to be a minimalist escape, focusing on simplicity and the restorative qualities of nature.

Design Concept

The cabin takes inspiration from a traditional A-frame structure, which has been intentionally modified to boost sound quality and visual interactions. The design pushes each corner of the peak outward, creating unique warped planes that capture surrounding sounds and enhance the overall harmony of the interior. This approach helps to establish the cabin as a space for contemplation and connection with nature.

Structural Arrangement

The cabin is built with timber frames that rest on a sturdy, insulated base. It features six frames organized into three sections, providing both stability and clear spatial organization. A secondary system of horizontal frames expands from top to bottom, supporting the structure while allowing space for shelves and possible cladding.

Interior Layout

Inside the cabin, the layout is carefully arranged along the warped sides, avoiding obstacles and maximizing views of the landscape. Basic amenities, including a flat wooden bed, a desk with shelves, and a small fireplace, provide necessary functionality. This arrangement prioritizes simplicity, enabling occupants to engage thoughtfully with their surroundings.

Material Considerations

Thatching is used as the cladding method for the cabin. This traditional approach, which employs local vegetation, fits well with the project’s ecological focus. The thatched roof serves as insulation and absorbs outdoor sounds, contributing to a peaceful atmosphere inside. This choice in materials allows the cabin to blend with its setting and supports the calming experience.

Mullion windows frame views of Bezdibene Lake, drawing natural light into the interior. They offer clear sightlines that link occupants with the surrounding landscape, enhancing the connection to nature while creating a calming environment inside.
