### Overview

Bjór-Bað is situated in close proximity to the Myvatn region of Iceland, designed to accommodate a beer station, coffee shop, and spa. Each functional area is oriented to optimize views of the surrounding landscape, particularly the northern lights, establishing a strong connection between the interior spaces and the natural environment. The design intent emphasizes creating a tranquil atmosphere that encourages relaxation and leisure while offering a culturally rooted experience centered around the concept of "beer bathing."

### Spatial Organization

The layout of Bjór-Bað features a central entrance that serves as a nexus for the various spaces, facilitating smooth circulation between the beer station, coffee shop, souvenir shop, and spa facilities. The arrangement emphasizes both functionality and social interaction. Key components include a welcoming entrance that contrasts with the rugged outdoor setting, a beer station designed to foster community engagement, a curated souvenir shop that highlights local craftsmanship, a multi-zoned spa area for relaxation, and a coffee lounge that balances solitude with social interaction. The terraced design allows for varying levels that enhance visitors' experiences of the landscape through opportunities for outdoor observation.

### Material Selection

The material palette of Bjór-Bað reflects a deep consideration for the local context and sustainability. Volcanic stone anchors the structure to its geographical setting, providing durability and a sense of place. Wood is used to create warm, inviting interiors, while large glass panels facilitate an abundance of natural light and enable clear views of the landscape, effectively blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior. Plaster finishes enhance acoustics and provide a smooth contrast to the raw stone. Additionally, the integration of solar panels underscores the project's commitment to energy efficiency, minimizing its ecological footprint while aligning with contemporary architectural practices that prioritize sustainability.
