Volcanic Stone and Black Concrete Unite in a Cavernous Multi-Functional Space

Project in-detail

"Black Earth Rising" is a design centered on the Icelande Cave Tower, located in the dramatic landscape of Iceland. The structure functions as a multifunctional space, focusing on providing a connection with nature. The design concept features sculptural forms that enhance movement and interaction among visitors, creating an engaging experience.

Sculptural Stairs

A key element of the design is the inclusion of sculptural stairs. These stairs are not only practical for accessing different levels but also act as a central visual feature. They invite visitors to explore the tower, guiding them through the space and creating a dynamic atmosphere. The result is a flow that encourages movement within the structure.

Spatial Organization

The layout of the tower is carefully considered to promote interaction among visitors. Each space is planned to allow for both communal activities and private moments. The organization of the areas helps maintain a balance between openness and intimacy. Such a layout complements the surrounding landscape, enhancing the experience of being in a natural environment.

Material Selection

Materials play an important role in the project. The chosen materials include black concrete, black cement, limestone flour, black sand, volcanic black stone, and concrete composition. These materials reflect the dark tones and textures found in the Icelandic landscape. Their use emphasizes the relationship between the structure and its natural surroundings, contributing to a cohesive design.

The design features details that respond to the environment, especially how light interacts with the shapes throughout the day. This play of light and shadow on the forms adds depth to the visual experience, allowing the tower to resonate with the dramatic landscape in which it stands.
