The Monte D'Oiro Wine Tasting Room is located in the picturesque environment of Monte d'Oiro, Portugal. Designed to be a welcoming space for wine tasting and social gatherings, the building connects closely with its surroundings. The design revolves around an appreciation for nature, allowing the space to blend with the vineyard landscape and reflect the changing seasons.

Architectural Concept

Central to the design is a large wooden trellis. This trellis is inspired by the timber posts that support the vineyards. It enhances the visual appeal and allows vines to grow naturally over time. The trellis not only adds beauty but also creates a connection between the inside and outside of the building. It highlights how the structure relates to the seasonal changes of the vineyard, making the experience more engaging for visitors.

Spatial Organization

The layout of the Wine Tasting Room is carefully arranged to support various activities while providing a comfortable atmosphere for guests. Key areas include an entryway, guest closet, dining areas, a mini bar, and a powder room. This arrangement ensures that movement through the space feels natural and fluid. Important features, such as a wine fridge, are thoughtfully integrated into the trellis design, reinforcing the significance of wine culture in the space.

Material Considerations

Wood plays a major role in the design, especially in the trellis and other structural elements. This choice helps to create a connection with the natural environment and reflects what is found in the vineyard. Using wood creates a friendly and warm atmosphere, which encourages guests to relax and enjoy their experience. The use of organic materials throughout the space emphasizes the relationship with the surrounding landscape and enhances the overall feeling of the Wine Tasting Room.

Light interacts with the trellis, casting shifting patterns across the space as the sun moves. This dynamic element invites guests to appreciate the connection between architecture and nature.
