Vilayanam is a meditation space situated in a tranquil valley, designed to encourage reflection and introspection. The concept focuses on the philosophical ideas of self-dissolution and the duality of existence. The structure aims to integrate harmoniously with its natural surroundings, providing an environment that fosters a deep connection to nature.

Structure and Integrity

The design features a series of vertical members that serve as the main support structure. These elements not only ensure stability but also contribute to a calming atmosphere. The building appears to blend into the landscape, highlighting its connection to the environment. By exposing the framework, the design emphasizes the core materials used in construction, which aligns with the themes of meditation and existence.

Form and Transition

The form of the building flows in a way that encourages interaction with its surroundings. Openings are thoughtfully placed to allow light and air to enter while maintaining the structure's integrity. Wooden frames support this design, creating meaningful connections between the interior and exterior spaces. The relationship between the inner walls that extend outward and the outer cabin forms a clear representation of the duality in our existence.

Light and Atmosphere

Natural light plays an important role in enhancing the atmosphere of the space. As it filters through the openings, it creates a varied environment throughout the day. This interaction draws users into the surrounding landscape, enriching their meditative experience. The placement of openings ensures that light becomes an essential aspect of the design, reinforcing its calming effects.

Beyond its physical presence, the building establishes a dialogue between the built environment and nature, culminating in a space that embodies the essence of contemplation.
