The Ribbon is located in Atlanta, Georgia, designed to adapt to the changing needs of modern workplaces in a post-pandemic world. The building combines public and private spaces to create a sustainable work environment. Its design concept uses a terracing form, allowing people to connect across multiple levels while addressing local social and environmental issues.

Community Integration

The first level of The Ribbon includes key amenities like a gymnasium, day care center, public library, community garden, and auditorium. These facilities are intended for both office workers and local residents, making the building a place for social interaction and resource sharing. By incorporating these community functions, The Ribbon promotes accessibility and inclusivity in an urban setting.

Workplace Configuration

The mid-levels serve as collaborative office spaces with an open floor plan. This design maximizes natural light and airflow, supporting different ways of working. Soundproof rooms and smaller meeting spaces accommodate focused tasks and group activities. The arrangement takes into account various work styles, aiming to boost productivity while ensuring comfort for users.

Sustainable Design Strategies

Sustainability plays a key role in the design. The façade is optimized to capture solar energy and reduce heat gain. Additionally, the vegetated roof mitigates the urban heat island effect and helps manage stormwater. The choice of carbon-neutral materials reflects an effort to implement sustainable practices throughout the building’s life, positioning The Ribbon as a modern example of thoughtful architecture.

Architectural Details

At the upper levels, a café and observation deck provide views of the city, linking users to their surroundings. The landscaped roof park serves as a green extension of the ground, offering spaces for relaxation and socialization. With its focus on both functionality and visual appeal, The Ribbon adds a unique element to Atlanta’s architectural landscape while meeting the needs of its community.
