Concept rooted in metempsychosis connects memory with form.

The design is located in a calm forest area, serving as a space for contemplation and reflection. The overall concept is inspired by the idea of metempsychosis, which relates to change and the cycles of life. This theme is evident in the cave-like shapes that are integrated into the landscape. The round structures engage with the environment, creating a conversation between what is hidden and what is visible.

Design Concept

Three main volumes characterize the design, forming a thoughtful relationship with the surrounding nature. One volume is set underground and is nearly invisible, merging with the earth to encourage curiosity and exploration. Another volume extends across the ground, providing a gentle connection to its surroundings. A third, elevated landmark captures attention, guiding visitors into the space.

Interior Experience

Inside, the columbarium offers a space for reflection, designed to evoke quiet thoughts. It features a dark interior, which enhances a sense of solitude and privacy. Light filters in from above, creating patterns and shadows that bring the space to life. This careful balance of light and dark encourages deeper engagement with the environment.

Accessibility and Flow

Paths made from shells and ramps make it easy for visitors to move through the site. These pathways promote interaction, allowing people to connect not only with the architecture but also with one another. The design invites a sense of journey, guiding visitors as they explore the various layers of the space.

Material Consideration

Although specific materials are not mentioned, the design suggests that natural textures are important. The focus on these elements reflects the character of the forest and aligns with the themes of memory and reflection. Each volume connects with the landscape, enhancing the overall experience of remembrance.

The soft light illuminating the interior adds a warm atmosphere, encouraging moments of silence and thought as visitors navigate this contemplative environment.
