Triple-Glazed Facades and Reinforced Concrete Blend in a Vineyard Tasting Room

Project in-detail

Large, triple-glazed facades and a ventilated facade system create a strong connection between the interior and the surrounding vineyard, providing a modern space for wine tasting.
5 key facts about this project
01
Large triple-glazed windows create unobstructed views of the vineyard and valley.
02
The building uses a ventilated facade system for improved energy efficiency.
03
Spaces are carefully separated to ensure privacy from winery operations.
04
OSB panels provide both structural integrity and a clean aesthetic.
05
The design promotes passive solar energy use throughout the year.

The Monte d'Oiro Wine Tasting Room is situated in a scenic vineyard area and is designed to enhance the experience of wine tasting. It integrates well with the existing winery while offering a modern interpretation of the traditional winery setting. The project emphasizes sustainability and functionality while establishing a strong connection to the natural surroundings. The building not only serves as a landmark but also creates an inviting space for visitors to enjoy their time in the vineyard.

Design Concept

The concept behind the design focuses on blending the building with its geographic context. It moves away from conventional house shapes to present a unique form that resonates with the local landscape. This approach includes features for energy efficiency, with a commitment to using passive solar energy. Such strategies help to reduce the environmental footprint, ensuring comfort for users throughout the year.

Spatial Organization

The layout is organized to provide guests with an unhurried experience. Key areas include a wine tasting room, entrance, restrooms, and various storage spaces. The careful placement of these elements ensures privacy from the day-to-day operations of the winery. This separation allows visitors to engage fully with the wine without distractions, creating a meaningful connection with both the product and the surrounding environment.

Materiality and Construction

Materials used in the building emphasize resilience and align with modern construction practices. The roof features standing seam technology along with OSB panels that contribute to structural integrity, while mineral wool insulation enhances energy efficiency. The design incorporates triple-glazed sliding doors and turnable corner sliding doors to support natural light and airflow. Also, the ventilated facade system combined with a waterproofing membrane ensures durability and comfort over time.

Architectural Details

Large windows on the West and South facades offer expansive views and create a continuous relationship between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The thin frames of these windows let in plenty of light and invite the beauty of the vineyard inside. This design choice enhances the overall experience by allowing visitors to enjoy both the architecture and the natural scenery surrounding them.
