03
The design folds to offer shade during the day and opens for music enjoyment.
04
Integrated into existing street infrastructure, enhancing urban connectivity.
05
Suitable for both individual use and community engagement during events.

The techno booth is located in the heart of Berlin, a city known for its vibrant electronic music scene. This innovative structure brings a unique opportunity for city dwellers and visitors to experience techno music in an engaging way. Inspired by origami, the design focuses on flexibility and adaptability, allowing it to fit in with the busy urban setting while serving its function well.

Materials

The booth is made from polyester and dichroic film, chosen for their qualities that enhance both its function and appearance. Polyester is durable and lightweight, making it easy to manipulate during use. The dichroic film introduces a colorful element that changes depending on the light, creating an interesting visual effect throughout the day. This use of materials contributes to the booth’s character and functionality in its urban environment.

Functionality

This structure serves two main purposes. When it is folded, the booth offers shade to passersby, creating a comfortable spot to rest. When unfolded, it becomes a personal space where individuals can immerse themselves in music. This dual-use allows the booth to adapt to different activities and needs throughout the day, offering a flexible solution for urban life.

User Experience

User interaction is a key aspect of the booth’s design. It encourages personal enjoyment while also inviting community engagement. During festivals, the booth lights up in various forms, adding to the celebration and enhancing the lively atmosphere of the streets. The approach creates opportunities for people to experience music and art together in a public space.

The booth's thoughtful design stands out in Berlin's urban landscape. It provides a focal point for cultural activities while responding effectively to the lively pace of city life. Its clever folding mechanism showcases practicality and innovation, allowing it to continuously evolve and integrate with its surroundings as the day progresses.
