Terra de Uvas is a design for a winery located in the Monte d'Oiro region, where wine production is deeply connected to the landscape. The design is conceived as a living entity that grows and changes along with its surroundings. This approach emphasizes the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with the vineyard, allowing the building to fit into its environment while reflecting the traditions of winemaking.

Design Concept

The design draws inspiration from historic wineries, using their material qualities as a foundation for a contemporary expression. Traditional elements are infused with a modern sensibility, creating a structure that respects the past while serving current needs. The approach focuses on sustainability and natural integration, resulting in a venue that functions well and resonates with its cultural roots.

Spatial Configuration

A key feature of the winery is the underground tasting area that maximizes views of the Monte d'Oiro vineyard. This positioning allows visitors to enjoy expansive, uninterrupted views of the fields, connecting them directly to the landscape. The layout encourages a sense of immersion in the natural surroundings, making the overall experience more engaging and meaningful.

Circulation and Accessibility

Attention to circulation within the building ensures it is easy to navigate. There are two main entrances to the tasting room, which helps manage visitor flow and provides options for those with mobility needs. The design fosters an inviting atmosphere and encourages movement between spaces, enhancing the connection with the outdoor vineyard.

Material Selection

Timber is a predominant material used throughout the building, contributing to a warm and welcoming interior. Concrete is utilized for the external retaining walls and steps, which adds durability and requires less maintenance over time. This thoughtful selection of materials supports both the practical functions of the winery and its visual appeal.

The green roof of the building serves multiple purposes. It helps regulate the temperature inside during hot summer months while also offering visitors a chance to enjoy views from above the vineyard. This combination of function and design detail enhances the overall experience at Monte d'Oiro Winery.
