The Tili Wine Italy Guest Homes project is located in the beautiful area of Spello, Perugia, serving as a carefully designed accommodation venue. The architecture focuses on blending with the surrounding environment, prioritizing a respectful approach to the existing forms and structures on the site. The overall design concept highlights a strong connection to natural elements, aiming for sustainability while honoring the historical context of the area.

Design Concept

At the heart of the design is the relationship between the built environment and nature. The form of the guest homes is fluid and organic, resembling soft fabric that wraps around itself. This design facilitates clear pathways, guiding movement through the space and creating interactions with the landscape. A linear water feature is incorporated to enhance this connection, allowing visitors to explore the gathering zones that are essential to the overall experience.

Historical Preservation

Preserving the authenticity of the existing structures is a significant aspect of the project. The design enhances these historical elements instead of hiding them. Open-plan spaces and exposed courtyards promote accessibility and flexibility, catering to the needs of guests while maintaining respect for the site’s history. This thoughtful consideration invites a dialogue between the past and the present.

Materiality

Timber plays a vital role in the overall design, particularly through the use of cross-laminated timber for the walls of the guest houses. This choice combines structural strength with design flexibility. The project also respects the existing stone structures, integrating them into the new design. This connection to local building traditions adds depth to the architecture while accommodating modern needs.

Guest Experience

The layout is designed to maximize natural light and create an inviting atmosphere for visitors. An on-site restaurant is integrated within the historical stone structure, illustrating a balance between contemporary functions and traditional authenticity. This approach ensures that guests enjoy a refined experience while being connected to the character of Tili’s natural and architectural heritage.

Open courtyards are key features, allowing sunlight and fresh air to enter, enhancing the sense of spaciousness within the guesthouses. This design fosters a comforting environment that encourages relaxation and interaction with nature.
