Timber Community Spaces Interwoven with Natural Acoustic Design

Project in-detail

Constructed with modular counters and wooden planks, the design creates a series of communal spaces enriched by acoustic considerations, serving as a vibrant center for music and cultural gatherings.
5 key facts about this project
01
Designed to enhance acoustics for musical performances and cultural events.
02
Utilizes modular counters for flexibility in communal activities.
03
Incorporates natural timber elements for a connection with the environment.
04
Features an open layout to encourage social interaction among visitors.
05
Focuses on integrating outdoor spaces for reflection and nature engagement.

The design focuses on the theme of "Collective Frame," situated in a lively environment that aims to blend nature, human interaction, and music. Emphasizing shared experiences, the design creates spaces that invite community engagement. By harmonizing the natural landscape with areas for gathering and performance, the concept aspires to foster a sense of togetherness among users.

Conceptual Framework

The approach is based on the notion that humans are part of nature but often reshape it according to personal needs. This idea parallels how separate sounds come together to form a unified piece of music. The design reflects this principle by crafting areas that support interaction and collaboration. Users are encouraged to connect with one another and their surroundings through these communal spaces, cultivating a feeling of belonging.

Spatial Organization

Various zones are included in the design, such as spaces for communal gatherings, performances, and cultural events. The arrangement of these spaces is deliberate, aimed at promoting unity and active engagement among visitors. Central to this concept is rhythm, which influences both the layout and the overall experience. The design prioritizes group activities, enabling smooth transitions from individual to collective enjoyment.

Materiality

Although specific materials are not explored in depth, a few key components enhance the design. Wooden planks of size 5x10 are used in communal spaces alongside modular counters measuring 10x10x60. Timber floor coverings of dimensions 10x10 are incorporated, as are lighting profiles that improve aesthetics and function in gathering areas. These materials help link the design to its natural context while ensuring the necessary infrastructure is in place to support communal activities.

Acoustic Considerations

The consideration of sound plays an important role, especially concerning musical events like the Sansusi Music Festival. The design aims to enhance sound quality, creating an immersive atmosphere for visitors. Thoughtful acoustic design not only contributes to the enjoyment of music but also emphasizes the theme of community engagement, highlighting the connection between sound and human interaction.

A unique aspect of the design is the incorporation of outdoor spaces that blend with the natural environment. These areas provide opportunities for quiet reflection and deeper connections with nature, enriching the sensory experience for everyone who uses the space.
