Elysian Vision: Meadow of Rejuvenation Hospice is a design located in the urban setting of Hong Kong, focusing on the needs of terminally ill patients while also promoting ecological recovery. The hospice provides a supportive environment that emphasizes the connection between nature and healing. The concept revolves around creating an "Oasis" that reimagines the site, enhancing mental health and medical care through ecotherapy.

Outdoor Garden

One of the key features of the design is the outdoor garden, inspired by the Elysian Plain from Greek mythology. This space plays an important role in the overall experience of the hospice. It offers a peaceful area for patients to engage with nature. The garden includes various trees, ponds, and flowers, which together create a habitat that contrasts with the surrounding urban landscape. This approach aims to rewild an environment that has been largely covered by concrete, making it a welcoming area for reflection and recovery.

Spatial Organization

The layout of the hospice is designed to meet the diverse needs of its users. It accommodates terminally ill residents, their families, and members of the surrounding community. The arrangement focuses on both ease of movement and accessibility, allowing for interactions among users while also providing moments of privacy for those who need it. Areas for gathering and multipurpose functions are included to encourage social connections, helping to build a sense of community within the hospice.

Activation of Outdoor Spaces

The integration of terraces and gardens is a significant part of the design. These outdoor spaces enhance the relationship between built structures and nature. They encourage people to spend time outside, which supports overall health and well-being. Users are invited to explore the gardens and relax in the natural surroundings. This emphasis on outdoor engagement reinforces the importance of nature in the healing process.

The architectural expression reflects careful thought about form and function, with a landscape that invites users to interact with their environment. The gentle curves and varying elevations enhance both the appearance and usability of the space. These features help create a calming atmosphere that encourages movement throughout the site. The design ultimately focuses on creating a sense of peace and well-being for everyone who visits the hospice.
