The Quinta Do Monte D'Oiro Wine Tasting Room is located in a scenic area surrounded by vineyards, designed to enhance the experience of tasting wine. Its layout encourages visitors to connect with both the interior space and the outside environment. The main idea is to create a "viewing vessel" that allows individuals to enjoy the wine while appreciating the beauty of the landscape.

Architectural Concept

The design focuses on blending indoor and outdoor areas in a way that makes moving between them intuitive. A prominent feature is the cantilevered tasting platform, which extends over the land to offer stunning views. This arrangement not only showcases the lush vineyards but also invites visitors to engage with the agricultural setting directly.

Materiality

Terracotta shingles are used for the building's cladding, reflecting the traditional materials found in the region. This choice helps the structure fit in with its surroundings while maintaining an inviting character. The warm tones of the terracotta serve to enhance the overall atmosphere, making the space feel welcoming and comfortable.

Programmatic Elements

The layout is carefully organized to support various activities related to wine tasting. Key spaces include a reception area, staircases for easy access, a lower terrace for outdoor enjoyment, tasting tables for sampling wine, and a viewing balcony. Each of these components is placed to encourage movement and provide a full experience for visitors.

The viewing balcony stands out as a focal point, offering guests the chance to take in expansive views of the vineyard while enjoying their wine. It emphasizes the connection between the space and its setting, allowing for a sensory experience that celebrates the local landscape.
