Suspended Plant Shelves Integrate Natural Light in a Multi-Functional Coastal Restaurant

Project in-detail

Suspended plant shelves intentionally filter sunlight, creating a unique ambiance in a multi-functional coastal restaurant that emphasizes a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.
5 key facts about this project
01
Suspended plant shelves enhance both aesthetics and light filtration in the interior.

Modular layout permits unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape.
03

04
Design prioritizes low energy consumption and sustainability.
05
Integration of differing spatial elements creates unique dining experiences.

The new restaurant design blends into its scenic surroundings, reflecting the concept of an idyllic space. Located in a beautiful area, it serves multiple functions, including dining, cafes, and exhibition spaces. The design focuses on minimizing energy use while creating an engaging environment for guests that emphasizes the relationship between nature and social interaction.

Building Layout and Spatial Arrangement

The structure is arranged in a modular format that stretches across the site, maintaining clear views of the landscape. This layout enhances the connection between the interior and exterior and fosters a sense of place that invites visitors in. Upon entering, guests experience a welcoming atmosphere that feels part of the natural context.

Central Element: The Plant Bar

At the heart of the restaurant is the center plant bar, which provides a focal point for gathering and conversation. This key feature illustrates the dialogue between nature and architecture, creating a space for exploration and interaction. Suspended plant shelves above the bar serve to filter sunlight, enriching the atmosphere while also providing visual interest.

Understanding Context and User Demographics

The design takes into consideration the area's demographics, where tourists are more prevalent than locals. This understanding influences the design, which aims to create an engaging environment for visitors that complements the tranquil surroundings. The project's focus reflects a careful consideration of how humans interact with nature, enhancing both relaxation and social experiences.

Integration of Functional Aspects

A significant design element is the distinction between the greenhouse module and the restaurant cube. The greenhouse is specifically designed to support plant life that needs ample light, whereas the restaurant cube focuses on providing comfortable areas for social activities. The central plant bar effectively connects these two aspects, integrating nature into the dining experience and allowing guests to feel linked to the environment.

Natural light and greenery play important roles throughout the interior. The arrangement of features and spaces enhances both the aesthetic and practical aspects of the restaurant. This thoughtful approach creates a cohesive environment where visitors can enjoy a connection to nature while engaging with each other.
