Stone Walls and Timber Planks in a Serene Valley Yoga House

Project in-detail

With its solid stone walls and warm timber planks, the yoga house is designed to facilitate a harmonious connection with the surrounding valley, creating an inviting space for practice and reflection.
5 key facts about this project
01
The design incorporates a solar array that allows for surplus energy generation.
02
Walls are built with locally sourced stone for natural insulation.
03
Timber floors are raised on stilts to enhance airflow and comfort.
04
A terrace extends over the cliff, providing panoramic views of the valley.
05
Indoor plants are strategically placed to improve air quality and ambiance.

A yoga house integrates the principles of yoga with a natural setting to create an environment that promotes mental and physical balance. This structure is designed to provide an optimal space for practitioners, encouraging relaxation and meditation. Located in a tranquil landscape, the yoga house enhances the experience of movement by establishing a connection with its surroundings.

Design Concept

The concept centers on the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces. A stone wall forms a prominent boundary, guiding visitors along the approach and framing views of the valley. This wall serves to define the yoga house while creating distinct functional areas. Each zone has its character, yet all contribute to the unity of the overall design.

Spatial Organization

Circulation within the yoga house is carefully planned. A clear pathway allows users to move easily through different spaces. Stone-paved floors support this practical design, and storage areas for yoga mats enhance organization. Air-purifying indoor plants are included to help create a calming atmosphere, reinforcing the wellness focus of the space.

Materials and Sustainability

Local materials are used throughout the structure, demonstrating awareness of the environment. Stone walls provide stability and natural insulation. The choice of timber elements adds warmth and visual appeal. A standing seam metal roof is designed for durability and effective water management. Sustainability is emphasized with solar panels on the roof that generate additional energy for nearby buildings, promoting independence and reducing reliance on traditional power sources.

Functional Features

The yoga hall serves as the central gathering space, surrounded by stone walls that create a sense of enclosure while offering unobstructed views of the landscape. The floor is elevated and constructed with timber planks, creating a welcoming atmosphere appropriate for practice. A balcony extends from the yoga hall, positioned over the cliff to encourage reflection and connection with nature. This space is designed for quiet moments, enhancing the relationship between users and their environment.

The design choices work together to support the practice of yoga, ensuring that each detail aligns with the overall goal of balance and tranquility.
