The Yoga House on a Cliff is a carefully designed space that connects visitors with the natural world. Located on a cliff, the building serves as a retreat for yoga and meditation, encouraging users to engage with the elements of earth, water, fire, and air. The design focuses on creating a peaceful environment that enhances the experience of mindfulness and reflection.

SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL INTEGRATION

The design approach highlights sustainability, aiming to respect and blend with the surrounding landscape. The layout encourages healthy interactions in both indoor and outdoor spaces, responding to the specific features of the site. Users can move through different areas that reflect the natural elements, promoting a calming atmosphere suited for meditation and self-discovery.

MATERIALITY AND STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY

Materials used in the building include steel and wood. The steel framework offers essential support for the structure while allowing for large windows that frame the views of the cliff and its surroundings. Wood provides a warm contrast to the steel and creates a welcoming atmosphere, enhancing the overall comfort of the space and establishing a connection with nature.

LANDSCAPING AND USER EXPERIENCE

A zen garden is an important aspect of the design, contributing to the meditative experience. This garden works in harmony with the architectural elements, allowing for a smooth transition between the building and the natural landscape. Its arrangement encourages users to take moments of pause, reflecting on their surroundings and engaging with the calming environment.

Along the pathways in the zen garden, carefully placed stepping stones guide visitors through the space. The gentle flow between the pathways creates a visual and sensory journey, drawing attention to the delicate balance of light and shadow throughout the day.
