Mountain's Gaze: Yoga House on a Cliff is located in Moses' Valley, set against the backdrop of the Serra de Estrella mountains. The design emphasizes a respectful relationship with the surrounding landscape while serving as a space for yoga and meditation. The overall concept focuses on blending with nature and maintaining the site's original beauty.

Architectural Concept

The concept centers on achieving harmony with the environment. It aims to preserve the natural conditions of the landscape while incorporating functional spaces for yoga practice. The building appears to grow from the mountain itself, suggesting a link to its surroundings and promoting a sense of continuity.

Spatial Experience

The yoga house is designed to be more than just a place of shelter. It reflects a spirit that embodies life and tranquility. Positioned along the mountainside, the structure interacts softly with the natural world, encouraging a connection between the building and the environment. The layout allows for smooth movement, inviting users to engage with both the interior and the landscape outside.

Light and Materiality

A key feature is the use of stained glass, which enhances natural light within the space. This choice contributes to the aesthetic and provides an inviting atmosphere for yoga practice. The stained glass brings a variety of colors and feelings, creating an environment that promotes peace, calmness, and reflection—important elements for mindfulness activities.

Design Details

The design focuses on light and the arrangement of spaces, fostering a connection with nature. As light enters the yoga house through the stained glass, it creates a changing display of colors within. This interaction highlights the connection to the landscape and enhances the atmosphere, enriching the experience for those who practice yoga within its walls.

MICROHOME 10: Celebrating Small-Scale Living with €100,000 Prize Fund and Kingspan’s Innovation

`
Competition organisers

The MICROHOME 10 competition invites participants to submit visionary designs for off-grid, modular microhomes that push the limits of sustainable, small-scale living. Organised by Buildner in partnership with Kingspan and Hapi Homes, this tenth edition sets the challenge of designing a dwelling for two people within a maximum floor area of 25 m², encouraging bold solutions adaptable to any urban or rural location. The competition continues Buildner’s mission to foster innovative approaches to compact, energy-efficient housing that can address pressing global challenges.

This year’s edition offers a generous total prize fund of €100,000, including the Kingspan Award for designs that integrate high-performance Kingspan products and the Hapi Homes Award for a project selected for real-world construction. In addition to cash prizes, the winners gain international exposure through Buildner’s media partnerships, publications, and a dedicated MICROHOME magazine, further amplifying their ideas to the wider architectural community.

Key dates for MICROHOME 10 include the closing date for registration on 25 September 2025, the submission deadline on 29 October 2025 (11:59 p.m. London time), and the announcement of winners on 9 December 2025. These milestones ensure participants have clear timelines to develop and present their concepts, with early registration discounts available to support students and emerging designers worldwide.
