The architecture reflects traditional Portuguese countryside styles and seeks to create a calming atmosphere that supports thoughtful practices.

Design Concept

The design emphasizes harmony with the natural landscape. Buildings are positioned to take advantage of views to the south-west, offering a pleasing perspective of the valley and creek. The layout includes a Yoga House, Water Tower, Greenhouse, and Meditation Cabin. Each structure serves a purpose and enhances the experience of being in nature. The design enables smooth transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing people to fully engage with their surroundings.

Materiality

The northeast facade features schist stone, a choice that connects the building to local traditions. This material helps keep the indoor environment comfortable during colder months by reducing heat loss. The south-west facade includes large sliding glass windows and wooden elements. This combination allows natural light to flood the interior and creates an open, welcoming space that helps bring the outside in.

Sustainability

Sustainability plays a significant role in how the buildings operate. The Water Tower captures and stores rainwater, which is then used throughout the site. There is a biofilter system that treats wastewater, allowing for its reuse in irrigation for gardens and the greenhouse.
