Rust-Orange Weathering Steel Framing A Vineyard Tasting Experience

Project in-detail

The use of rust-orange weathering steel creates a distinct visual identity for a hillside tasting room that seamlessly connects visitors to the surrounding vineyard landscape.
5 key facts about this project
01
The building integrates weathering steel to create a dynamic rust-orange facade.
02
A series of uniquely colored tiles on the tables pay homage to Portuguese culture.
03
Large windows are strategically positioned to frame vineyard views and maximize natural light.
04
The layout encourages a spatial journey from indoor to outdoor, enhancing the visitor experience.
05
The design emphasizes a minimalist aesthetic, fostering a calm and inviting atmosphere.

The Terrace is a well-designed tasting room located on a hillside, intended for visitors to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding vineyard. The structure makes use of natural forms and textures to create a shape that fits comfortably within the landscape. The design encourages movement between indoor and outdoor spaces, providing an inviting atmosphere for those visiting the site.

Interior Design
-
The interior of The Terrace adopts a simple approach, showcasing clean lines and natural proportions that foster a calm environment. The main gathering area features a series of tables, each with unique colored tiles. This design choice honors Portuguese culture and adds a lively contrast against the neutral colors of the surrounding space. The effect enriches the overall experience for guests and acknowledges local traditions.

Exterior Appearance
-
The outside of The Terrace is finished with weathering steel, giving it a warm rust-orange color that works well with the green landscape of the vineyard. This choice of material helps to connect the building with nature while also making it a noticeable feature against the rolling hills. As the surface of the steel ages, it will change slightly, further blending the structure with its environment.

Spatial Flow
-
The layout of The Terrace is crafted to take visitors on a journey. It starts inside and smoothly transitions to an outdoor balcony and terrace area. This flow leads to wide views at the bottom of the hill, bringing guests closer to the landscape. Each part of the space is designed carefully to help people experience the connection between the building and the natural surroundings.

Large windows and sliding glass doors bring in ample natural light and invite the surrounding views into the interior. This design choice creates a bright and welcoming atmosphere, allowing visitors to engage fully with the vineyard landscape beyond.
