"The PATH" is a memorial dedicated to witches, positioned in a region rich with history and cultural narratives surrounding witchcraft from the 1400s to the 1700s. The design invites visitors to reflect on the complex themes associated with witchcraft while providing an engaging space for personal exploration. The overall concept centers on the journey of the witch, highlighting the balance between knowledge and societal fear associated with this historical context.

Symbolic Entrances

The design includes two distinct entrances that set the tone for visitors' experiences. The blue entrance offers a direct route to the exit, allowing for straightforward navigation through the memorial. In contrast, the red entrance leads into a labyrinth, creating a more intricate experience that mirrors the complexity of understanding witchcraft.

The Labyrinth Experience

Central to the memorial is the labyrinth, with various corridors encouraging exploration and movement. Visitors navigate both upward and downward, enhancing the sense of discovery. This design element reflects the varied pathways one faces when delving into the history and significance of witchcraft, emphasizing that understanding is rarely simple.

Symbolism of Towers

The design incorporates four towers that contribute to the memorial's messaging. These structures symbolize themes such as reflection and duality, drawing on traditional portrayals of witches. Their presence invites deeper contemplation on the narratives surrounding witchcraft, while reinforcing the memorial's intent to honor and explore these complex themes.

Water Feature

A central water element plays a significant role in the memorial’s ambiance. Its reflective surface captures light, creating a serene atmosphere that encourages interaction. Visitors can approach the water in different ways, either by dipping a toe or stepping in fully. This aspect of the design signifies change and introspection, adding an emotional layer to the overall experience of the memorial.
