Casa Dhyana serves as a dedicated space for yoga and meditation, designed to evoke calm in its users. Located in a peaceful natural setting, the building creates an environment that encourages contemplation and personal reflection. The design emphasizes simplicity and a connection to the surrounding landscape, offering a refuge from modern distractions.

Design Concept

The concept of Casa Dhyana draws inspiration from the practice of yoga, particularly the term "dhyāna," which refers to deep meditation. The design promotes a journey inward, inviting individuals to move down into the main studio, or Shala, symbolizing a transition into a state of focus. The triangular shape of the building reflects the form of meditation poses, reinforcing the purpose of the space.

Materials and Sustainability

Materials for Casa Dhyana are thoughtfully chosen to align with the design vision. A red metal standing seam roof complements local architecture, while structural insulated panels create the building's exterior, ensuring efficient temperature control. A red perovskite solar cell embedded in the shell is positioned to maximize energy capture. Additionally, the design includes a greywater gutter system that collects rainwater for reuse, highlighting a commitment to environmental sustainability.

Interior Design Elements

The interior layout prioritizes functionality, enhancing the meditative experience. Upon entering the Shala, visitors find an opening that widens as they descend, fostering an immersive atmosphere. An herb garden near the entrance adds a sensory element, inviting users into a tranquil mindset. A glass wall on the upper level opens completely, allowing natural light and air to circulate freely within the space.

Functional Spaces

The building's lower level accommodates necessary amenities, including a shower, toilet, and storage for yoga mats. A handwashing station is also included, ensuring convenience for users. A mechanical room handles greywater management and energy storage from the solar cell, supporting the building's operational efficiency. LED strip lights along the floors provide gentle illumination, contributing to a calming environment suitable for meditation and yoga activities.

Casa Dhyana embodies a thoughtful approach to design, balancing practical needs with a serene aesthetic. The attention to detail in both structure and layout creates a space that supports well-being, inviting individuals to engage in practices of mindfulness and reflection.
