5 key facts about this project
The EuroVelo project aims to create inviting glamping sites along Europe’s cycling routes. Situated in various natural settings, the design seeks to provide an experience that blends comfort with a connection to the outdoors. The focus is on modular, prefabricated units that can be adapted to different locations, ensuring that both the environment and the unique characteristics of each site are respected.
SLEEPING UNITS
The sleeping units are designed with a footprint of 8.18 square meters and can accommodate individuals or couples. Each unit is thoughtfully arranged to provide essential amenities. Inside, visitors will find a bed, a multimedia console with a television, and convenient power outlets. The use of LED lighting adds energy efficiency to the overall design. To address the needs of active travelers, there are storage options to securely hold bicycles and personal belongings.
RESTROOM UNITS
Restroom units are also an important aspect of the project, covering 3.07 square meters. Each restroom includes a toilet, sink, and shower to satisfy basic hygiene needs. Additionally, there is a workstation for bicycle repairs, making it easier for cyclists to maintain their equipment. The inclusion of solar panels helps provide power for necessary devices, showcasing a commitment to sustainable practices.
MATERIALS AND SUSTAINABILITY
The design considers sustainability through careful selection of materials. Concrete is used for the slab foundations, ensuring stability while permitting straightforward assembly on-site. Reclaimed wood is featured in the bed platforms, reflecting a sensible approach to sourcing and environmental stewardship. These choices support the overall aim of offering a responsible glamping experience in harmony with nature.
ARCHITECTURAL IDENTITY
The concept incorporates the idea of "Architecture as Logo" by using recognizable forms that create a clear visual identity for the EuroVelo brand. This design strategy communicates meaning to cyclists without depending on written words. Attention to detail is evident, as the structures integrate naturally into the landscape while providing a unique experience that resonates with the spirit of adventure found in outdoor travel.
