Pyramidic shape optimizes natural light and ventilation throughout the structure.
03
Dedicated areas for yoga and meditation promote wellness and reflection.
04
Vertical organization of spaces separates private and public functions distinctly.
05
Generous terrace integrates indoor and outdoor living, enhancing the connection with nature.

The Bamboo Stilt House is located in a remote area of Cambodia, serving as a retreat that connects visitors with the surrounding natural landscape. Its design reflects traditional architectural principles while adapting to contemporary needs. The structure is thoughtfully positioned to take advantage of scenic views of lush mountains and the coastline, providing a serene environment.

Vertical Organization

The design organizes spaces vertically, creating a distinct separation between private and public areas. By placing different functions on separate levels, the house encourages both privacy and social interaction among visitors. This approach follows the layout of traditional Cambodian stilt houses but has been tailored to accommodate modern usage patterns.

Material Choice

Bamboo is the main material used in the construction. The structure incorporates bamboo canes for support, along with bamboo wall cladding and flooring. This choice promotes sustainability while using local resources effectively. Rope is also included to enhance structural stability in key areas. Together, these materials reflect a commitment to respecting the environment and the cultural context of the region.

Integration with Nature

The design emphasizes a strong connection with the natural surroundings. Large openings invite fresh air and daylight into the interior spaces, fostering a comfortable ambiance. The house is oriented to create views of the landscape, enhancing the visitors' experience. A generous terrace serves as an extension of the living area, providing opportunities for outdoor activities and relaxation amid the greenery.

Spatial Aesthetics

Aesthetic qualities of the Bamboo Stilt House arise from its proportions and the arrangement of spaces. The pyramidic shape not only looks appealing but also aids in airflow and natural lighting. Areas designed specifically for yoga and meditation allow for quiet moments of reflection. The thoughtful layout and careful material selection contribute to an environment that promotes well-being and encourages a close connection with nature.
