The Yoga House on a Cliff is a space designed for meditation and self-reflection. Set against the backdrop of a cliffside, the structure integrates with the natural environment, encouraging a connection between the building and its surroundings. The purpose of the Yoga House is to provide a retreat for those looking to enhance their physical and spiritual health through yoga practices. The central idea, "Listen to the Sound of Silence," highlights the need for a peaceful atmosphere that promotes personal growth and introspection.

Spatial Organization

The layout of the Yoga House supports a smooth flow through interconnected spaces, each serving specific functions related to yoga and meditation. There are areas for group practice and quieter spots for personal contemplation. This arrangement allows users to have a range of experiences that cater to their individual needs. The design encourages a sense of unity and continuity throughout the various spaces.

Form and Geometry

The shape of the building features vertical and sloped forms that suggest uplift and a journey towards enlightenment. These geometries not only enhance the visual appeal of the structure but also create an inviting atmosphere. Natural light enters the interior through well-positioned windows, brightening the space and enhancing the overall experience.

Sustainability Features

Sustainability plays an important role in the design of the Yoga House. A natural ventilation system helps to maintain a comfortable indoor climate. Cool air flows in through lower windows, while warm air escapes through operable windows. Rainwater management is effectively addressed with a green roof that aids in controlling stormwater and supports the gardens around the building. A greywater treatment system allows for the reuse of water, showcasing a commitment to reducing environmental impact.

Material Selection

Local materials have been chosen for the project, including wood, glass, clay, and limestone. These selections create a visually appealing environment that is also in harmony with the landscape. The natural colors and textures used in the design promote calmness, which is essential for meditation and self-reflection.

Light plays an important role in the experience of the Yoga House. The changing patterns of light and shadow on the sloped roofing create a dynamic atmosphere, enhancing meditation throughout the day.
