The tower located in Iceland showcases a thoughtful relationship between a built structure and the natural landscape. Positioned on flat land, the structure serves as a place for observation and interaction, allowing visitors to connect with the unique environment. The design focuses on creating both aboveground and underground experiences, mirroring the geological features found in Iceland.

Inspiration from Nature

The design is influenced by the geological forms of Iceland, resembling stalactites and stalagmites. This approach results in a tower that appears to grow out of the earth, emphasizing harmony with the natural terrain. It draws attention to the surrounding landscape, encouraging visitors to appreciate its beauty and complexity.

Height and Visibility

At a height of 32 meters, the tower is a prominent feature in the flat surroundings. It provides expansive views that can be enjoyed by visitors, guiding their exploration of the area. Strategic use of lighting enhances visibility in different weather, marking the tower as a reference point in the landscape.

Functional Spaces

The design includes a café in the underground section, offering shelter and comfort from the elements. This space is paired with waiting areas and toilets, ensuring that visitors have the necessary amenities. A spiral staircase connects different levels, allowing for smooth movement throughout the tower and enhancing overall visitor experience.

Material Considerations

Concrete and blackened metal are the primary materials used in the tower's construction. Concrete provides strength and durability, while blackened metal offers a contrasting texture that reflects the local environment's ruggedness. This choice of materials helps create a visual identity for the tower, connecting it to its geographical location.

Inside, the walls are designed to support the growth of moss and lichen, bringing a piece of the outside environment into the interior. This feature adds a natural element to the atmosphere, creating an evolving and dynamic space within the tower.
