Tech-Pyramids is an architectural design that features a series of pyramid-shaped structures aimed at exploring the connections between form, technology, and usability. Set in a contemporary urban environment, the design seeks to combine sustainability and functionality. The pyramids are not just visually compelling; they also serve practical purposes for a variety of activities, inviting community interaction and engagement.

Pyramidal Geometry and Spatial Efficiency
The architecture prominently displays pyramidal forms, which emphasize stability and order. Each pyramid is a modular component, contributing to the overall arrangement that maximizes usable space. Plans and elevation drawings illustrate how height and proportion work together, creating a visual dialogue with the surroundings. This thoughtful organization allows for varied functionalities, adaptable to community needs.

Integration of Technological Elements
A significant aspect is the incorporation of technological features, particularly solar panels. This choice reflects a commitment to renewable energy and speaks to contemporary concerns about the environment. The solar panels enhance the energy efficiency of the design, making it a practical solution for modern living. Additionally, luminous panels are included to facilitate visibility at night, contributing positively to the user experience and safety.

Aesthetic and Functional Detailing
Attention to details plays a crucial role in Tech-Pyramids. The design features surface treatments that elevate both the aesthetic quality and functionality of the structures. The interaction of natural light with the surfaces draws attention throughout the day. Luminous panels are positioned strategically, creating an inviting atmosphere that encourages exploration and use of the various spaces.

The design concludes with a focus on light and shadow, where surfaces interact dynamically throughout the day. This creates an engaging architectural character that invites ongoing interest and connection.

MICROHOME 10: Celebrating Small-Scale Living with €100,000 Prize Fund and Kingspan’s Innovation

`
Competition organisers

The MICROHOME 10 competition invites participants to submit visionary designs for off-grid, modular microhomes that push the limits of sustainable, small-scale living. Organised by Buildner in partnership with Kingspan and Hapi Homes, this tenth edition sets the challenge of designing a dwelling for two people within a maximum floor area of 25 m², encouraging bold solutions adaptable to any urban or rural location. The competition continues Buildner’s mission to foster innovative approaches to compact, energy-efficient housing that can address pressing global challenges.

This year’s edition offers a generous total prize fund of €100,000, including the Kingspan Award for designs that integrate high-performance Kingspan products and the Hapi Homes Award for a project selected for real-world construction. In addition to cash prizes, the winners gain international exposure through Buildner’s media partnerships, publications, and a dedicated MICROHOME magazine, further amplifying their ideas to the wider architectural community.

Key dates for MICROHOME 10 include the closing date for registration on 25 September 2025, the submission deadline on 29 October 2025 (11:59 p.m. London time), and the announcement of winners on 9 December 2025. These milestones ensure participants have clear timelines to develop and present their concepts, with early registration discounts available to support students and emerging designers worldwide.
