The Quinta do Monte d'Oiro Tasting Room is located within a winery complex that reflects traditional architectural styles of the region. It serves as a dedicated space for wine tasting while promoting a connection to the surrounding landscape. The design emphasizes functionality and engages visitors by enhancing their experience with the vineyard.

Design Concept and Layout

The winery consists of several buildings that share a common architectural language. The structures feature stone constructions, lime-treated exterior walls, and red-tiled roofs. This choice of materials helps maintain the historical identity of the site and honors local building traditions. The overall layout facilitates easy movement throughout the winery, leading to the tasting room that is integrated with the hill's natural topography.

Visitor Experience

Visitors access the tasting room through a simple façade, which invites them into the space without drawing too much attention. Inside, seven large arches create generous openings that provide views of the vineyard. These design choices allow natural light to enter and connect the indoor environment to the outdoor landscape. It enhances the experience for guests, making them feel a part of the winery's natural setting.

Key Design Features

A prominent aspect of the tasting room is the "opened wall," which creates a sheltered area that can be used for seating. This design feature fosters interaction among visitors, promoting a sense of community. In addition, a custom-designed table shaped as one-third of a circle can adapt to accommodate different group sizes. This table allows visitors to enjoy direct views of the vineyard and serves as a space for guided tastings.

Materiality and Aesthetic

The careful selection of materials is essential to the project. The use of stones, lime, red tiles, bricks, timber, and glass reinforces the connection to the local landscape. This choice not only contributes to the overall look of the winery but also enhances the visitor's experience by creating a welcoming environment for wine appreciation.

The design creates a space where light, form, and materials come together, inviting visitors to engage with the region's brewing traditions.
