Lighthouse Lookpoint Embracing Nature with Sustainable Wood Structure

Project in-detail

Emerging as a lighthouse lookpoint, this structure utilizes a wood framework to create a space that connects visitors to the diverse vistas of Iceland's landscapes while promoting sustainable energy practices.
5 key facts about this project
01
Lighthouse design emphasizes emotional connection to surrounding nature.
02
Raised viewpoint directs visitors to three distinct vistas.
03
Constructed with a sustainable wood structure for reduced carbon impact.
04
Incorporates renewable energy sources for operational efficiency.
05
Positioned to enhance the experience of the unique Icelandic landscape.

The design is located near Myvatn Lake, Dimmuborgir, and Hverfjall, creating a space that emphasizes the emotional relationship between people and nature. A raised viewpoint platform acts as a lighthouse, directing visitors toward three main perspectives of the beautiful Icelandic landscape. The overall design focuses on functionality while enhancing visitor experience, creating a connection to the surrounding environment.

Site and Functionality

The site enhances how visitors interact with the landscape through carefully arranged viewpoints. Various levels of the structure allow for easy navigation and movement. Each vantage point is positioned to offer clear sightlines, allowing people to fully engage with the natural surroundings, promoting moments of reflection and enjoyment.

Sustainable Design

The structure is designed with a wood frame, reflecting a modern approach to sustainability. It intends to use renewable energy sources, which lowers the building's environmental impact. This decision supports a growing awareness in architecture about the importance of eco-friendly practices.

Spatial Organization

The layout promotes accessibility and encourages engagement. Pathways and viewing areas flow together, making it simple for visitors to explore the space. This arrangement invites a sense of discovery, enhancing the experience of being in such a unique environment.

Design details include open-air platforms and seating areas that encourage both solitude and social interaction. These thoughtful elements allow individuals to enjoy the surroundings, creating a space that harmonizes with the Icelandic landscape.
