Kinetic Spaces Crafted from Scaffolding and Latex

Project in-detail

Crafted from latex and repurposed scaffolding, the design creates dynamic booths that promote social interaction and personal reflection within a vibrant urban setting.
5 key facts about this project
01
Built using repurposed scaffolding for structural integrity.
02
Features booths that encourage kinetic movement and artistic interaction.
03
Incorporates sustainable latex sourced from hevea brasiliensis trees.
04
Designed to facilitate both social engagement and personal retreat.
05
Each booth uniquely addresses different emotional states and uses.

The design explores the relationship between sound, emotional experiences, and space through a set of interactive booths. Located in a bustling urban area, the project aims to create environments that encourage social interaction and personal reflection. The concept takes inspiration from the principles of audio synthesis, allowing sound waves and vibrations to be expressed in a physical form. This approach focuses on enhancing user experience and engagement.

Design Concept

A variety of booths make up the design, each crafted for specific functions. The Acid Booth stands out for its engaging visual appeal, inviting users to absorb their surroundings. It promotes movement and features artworks strategically placed to encourage interactions with local artists, thus creating a connection to the community.

User Interaction

In contrast, the Chill Booth offers a more subdued atmosphere, designed like a vertical hammock for people looking to relax. This space aims to provide a safe haven where users can unwind and shift into a calmer mindset. The contrasting nature of these booths highlights a fluid transition between lively and peaceful settings, showcasing the diverse range of user experiences catered to within the design.

Cultural Context

The Industrial Booth focuses on a more rugged aesthetic, reflecting the characteristics of industrial techno culture. Its design incorporates elements typical of industrial style, creating a strong personality that complements the more dynamic areas. Functionality is a key aspect here, but there is also an emphasis on how this booth resonates with its cultural context.

Sustainability and Materials

Material choices significantly influence the overall vision of the project, particularly through an emphasis on sustainability. Latex sourced from hevea brasiliensis trees is used, selected for its environmental benefits and ability to decompose naturally. By utilizing repurposed scaffolding frames, the design maintains structural strength while minimizing waste, which reinforces a commitment to ecological responsibility.

The design encapsulates a range of elements, where movement, light, and sound come together to foster a rich user experience. Each booth provides a distinct atmosphere, responding thoughtfully to its intended purpose and inviting users to explore their surroundings. The result is an environment that encourages creativity and fosters meaningful connections among its users.
