The "Breathable Post-Covid Office Design" presents a thoughtful approach to contemporary workplace needs, shaped by recent global developments. Located in an active urban setting, the design aims to create an adaptable work environment that prioritizes both functionality and employee well-being. The use of modular hexagonal forms serves as the foundation of the concept, fostering flexibility and encouraging interaction among users.

Modularity

The design hinges on the hexagonal shape, allowing for the easy combination of individual work units. This configuration expands both horizontally and vertically, addressing a variety of functional requirements while maintaining a unified appearance. The angles of the hexagons introduce an inviting quality that departs from traditional 90-degree office layouts, which can promote creativity and collaboration.

Movement and Interaction

The layout intentionally organizes high-traffic areas in open arrangements, promoting connectivity within the workspace. This focus on movement supports a natural flow of communication and collaboration among users. The arrangement not only caters to practical needs but also contributes to an environment that encourages productivity and engagement.

Integration of Green Spaces

The design incorporates significant green areas both inside and outside the building, acknowledging the importance of nature in workplace settings. These spaces are thoughtfully positioned to enhance views and accessibility, improving overall emotional well-being. By bringing nature into the workspace, the design aligns with a growing interest in sustainable architecture.

Mental Health and Communal Spaces

Spaces dedicated to relaxation and communal activities play a crucial role in the design. Features such as playrooms and informal meeting spots are purposefully included to help reduce stress and foster social interaction among employees. This attention to supportive environments reflects an understanding of the complexities of modern work life, promoting the mental well-being of all occupants.

A distinctive aspect of the design is its ability to adapt to various site conditions, ensuring effective responses to different environments. The way light interacts with the hexagonal layout creates varied visual experiences throughout the day. Thoughtful integration of indoor and outdoor areas establishes a balance between built spaces and the natural surroundings, enhancing the overall experience within the office.

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025: Celebrating Architectural Creativity and Visionary Unbuilt Designs with a Total Prize Fund of €100,000

`
Competition organisers

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 is an international architecture competition dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the value of unrealized architectural designs. It invites architects, designers, and students worldwide to submit visionary projects that have not yet been constructed, highlighting the power of ideas and the creativity behind the design process. By focusing on unbuilt work, the competition aims to bring forward concepts that shape the future of architecture and push the boundaries of the profession.

Participants can compete in three categories based on project scale: Small Wonders (up to 100 m²), Medium Marvels (101–999 m²), and Large Visions (over 1,000 m²). Each category winner will receive €20,000, and additional prizes include honorable mentions, student awards, and a special Best Presentation Award. Winning projects will gain significant international exposure through Buildner’s publicity campaign and a feature article on ArchDaily, providing a unique opportunity to showcase creative ideas to a global audience.

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 encourages entrants to submit any type of unbuilt project, from conceptual visions to detailed designs, celebrating bold innovation without the constraints of realization. Important deadlines: registration closes on October 30, 2025; submissions are due by November 20, 2025; winners will be announced on December 17, 2025.
