Grass Integration and Sunlight Altar in a Tranquil Meditation Cabin

Project in-detail

A sunlight altar greets visitors at the entrance of a cabin seamlessly integrated with grass and surrounded by mature trees, providing a dedicated space for meditation and inner reflection.
5 key facts about this project
01
The cabin's entrance features a unique altar that is entirely exposed to sunlight.
02
Grass is allowed to grow through gaps in the wooden flooring, enhancing the connection to nature.
03
Pillars support the cabin, enabling the natural terrain to remain undisturbed beneath it.
04
Natural light is integrated through strategically placed openings in the walls.
05
The compact design allows for a meditation space accommodating up to four individuals.

The meditation cabin is set in a quiet clearing, surrounded by tall grass and mature trees. This environment aims to create a space where users can reflect and find calm. The design focuses on connecting the structure with the surrounding landscape, promoting a feeling of peace that supports personal meditation.

Exterior Design

The cabin features a weathered look, similar to an old temple, allowing it to blend into the grassy surroundings. This choice helps the building fit in with the landscape while causing minimal visual disruption. The terrain’s natural slope is considered in the design, with pillars supporting the cabin so that grass can continue to grow beneath it, highlighting the bond between the building and nature.

Entry and Altar

At the entrance, an altar faces the sunlight, encouraging visitors to engage in personal rituals. This feature serves both a practical and a symbolic purpose, creating a meaningful link with the outdoor space. Smooth sandstones line the pathway to the cabin, providing a tactile experience that invites mindfulness as visitors transition from the busy outside world into a quieter setting.

Interior Layout

Inside the cabin, a small hall offers a place to store personal items needed for meditation. The main room is spacious enough for four people to lie down comfortably, accommodating both group sessions and solo reflection. Natural light streams in through carefully placed openings in the walls, enhancing the interior atmosphere and allowing light to play across the surfaces at different times of the day.

Connection to Nature

The design emphasizes a strong connection to the outdoors, with grass growing through the gaps in the wooden floor. This integration of nature into the interior sends a clear message about the harmony between inside and outside. Each element of the space works together to create a place where users can find comfort and peace, allowing them to engage deeply with their surroundings.
